A remarkable scientific and horticultural achievement that combined patience, botanical expertise, and years of dedicated research to create a newly registered orchid hybrid recognized internationally.
Dr. Sarat Chandra Misra successfully raised a new hybrid orchid using one orchid specimen from Odisha and another from Tamil Nadu.
The hybrid required nearly 8 years of careful cultivation before reaching the flowering stage, demonstrating extraordinary patience, scientific dedication, and horticultural expertise.
After successful flowering in 2020, the new hybrid was submitted to the Royal Horticultural Society, London, the International Registration Authority for Orchid Hybrids.
The orchid was officially registered as a new hybrid species named “Cymbidium Tej’s Udai”, honoring the renowned horticulturist Dr. Udai Pradhan.
This historic achievement was later included in the 2022 publication “INDIAN HYBRIDS” authored by Dr. Udai Pradhan (Page 37).
